General Horror,
It seems like it has been ages we have been talking about the big screen adaptation of American McGee's Alice. We first heard about this with Sarah Michelle Gellar's name attached and then later director Marcus Nispel. Both are now gone and no longer have anything to do with the film. Now Universal Pictures have also dropped the project. So where are we know?
Well Producer Scott Faye spoke with Kotaku about the long gestating project and what may lay ahead. Apparently two scribes are attached to the project working on a script as I write this, Jon and Erich Hoeberand. Faye also spoke about his fondness for the project, "I love the grown up Alice in a horror story version of Wonderland, and knew instinctively that the project would have a commercial appeal easily discerned by the film studios because the character and mythology are so deeply ingrained into the collective psyche.”
Well apparently it does not have very much commercial appeal because if it did we would have seen this long ago. But with the writers hard at work maybe this time we will see some solid strides into making this a feature film. As always it a matter of time and money.
