Stay Awake for Friday Nightmares this Halloween
Well boo's and ghouls, Halloween is fast approaching and what better way to spend your Halloween night than getting in touch with your inner zombie at Friday Nightmares in Wichita, Kansas with myself, Mirthquake, and many others.
CathARTic Art and Film Events (CAFE) is proud to present Friday Nightmares on Friday October 31st in Wichita, Kansas. It is their fourth annual Halloween themed group art show and masquerade ball and is shaping up to be a night you dont want to miss. CAFE founder Matt Orsman, aka our very own Mirthquake, is using this years Friday Nightmares as a kick-off for year round charity events from his company, with FN being the first show whose proceeds will go to charity. The two charities that Friday Nightmares will be donating their proceeds to are RAINN (The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) and The Wichita Film Festivals.
This years Friday Nightmares will consist of the annual Halloween Art Show, with this years theme being "Hollywood Horror in the Heartland". The idea is to take a b-movie concept and apply it to local settings. Some of the artists include Brian S. Allen, Sherry Carpenter, Mark Clarkson, Pamela Clarkson, Patty Ringgenberg, and Mark Walker.
In addition to the Art Show, this year will be CAFE's inaugural Zombie Prom! Break out your best burial attire and come celebrate the prom the way you've always wanted...as a zombie! There will be prizes, some good 'ol zombie dancing, and who knows maybe you will get crowned the Prom King or Queen of the Undead. Of course if you are more comfortable not getting dressed up, you can still come to the zombie prom without a costume but be on your guard because some of those pesky zombies may be after your brain.
If you dont feel like dancing, then come for the entertainment. Scheduled to perform at Friday Nightmares is the zombie dance troupe Living Dead Girlz featuring Fangoria Spooksmodel Shannon Lark. LDG's video parody "Brains" is an internet sensation, and these lovely zombie ladies will be giving a performance you dont want to miss. In addition to the Living Dead Girls, local costume band Shadow13 will be playing and there will be a screening of the local filmmaker Leif Jonker's film Darkness. All this plus appearances by many other independant filmmakers from around the country that you can talk horror movie making with.
The one night only show opens October 31 from 8-12 p.m., at The 20th Century Center, 536 N Broadway (just north of Central) in Wichita. Tickets are $20.00 per person, or $35.00 a couple, with net proceeds being donated to the previously mentioned charities. It is really shapping up to be an event that you dont want to miss as Mirthquake and CAFE along with sponsors 104.5 The Fox, David Mendoza DMD, GoldWing Group, Three Monkey Games, Ideajack Interactive, The Art of Healing and Nickel Sales bring a night of horror to the heartland! I'll be there and so should you!
