Is Dead Space the Scariest Game Ever?

We have been having a lot of great news on upcoming games in the horror gaming community but it seems that one of the games is starting to steal the show.  Dead Space, the sci-fi survival horror game do on US shelves Oct 14th, seems like it is starting to seperate itself from the pack in the realm of horror gaming.  Reviews are starting to come out from everywhere and they all seem to have the same sentiment: Dead Space is downright scary and could quite possibly the scariest game ever created.  Thats a pretty lofty statement but it sounds like those looking for a terrifying horror gaming experience are in for just that.

GamePro's review gave the game a perfect score and they went on to say "It's easily the best survival horror game since the masterful "Resident Evil 4" and it sets the bar high for graphics, sound, and scares in its respective genre. Dead Space is an artistic nightmare clearly designed for survival horror fans by a passionate and dedicated team of like-minded gamers. Just be sure to play it with the lights on."

Dead Space received a 9/10 in the November PSW Magazine which stated "This is bold, bleak gaming from the haunting opening credits to the pulse pounding finish...Dead Space should be classed as one of the finest looking and intelligently crafted games in many a moon...The new benchmark to beat in survival horror that pushes the genre to twisted new heights and into the outer limits of space itself."  They even went as far as making the statement that Dead Space is "The scariest game ever created"

Video Game website IGN's review has so far given the lowest early review score of 8.7/10 but they still had this to say: Call it science fiction survival horror, but Dead Space does the genre proud with an engaging story; action that's tense, fast-paced and extremely violent; as well as atmospheric qualities that will get under your skin and make you jump.

I can go on with more reviews, but I think you get the idea.  While everyone will have their own individual opinions once the game is finally released, I expect more often than not that people will experience a frightening game.  It will remain to be seen if horror gamers really do think that this will go down as "The Scariest Game Ever Created."  However it sounds very, very promising and I for one am looking forward to seeing if Dead Space can deliver one of the scariest experiences ever offered through a video game.
