Clive Barker's Madonna is Next Up

There has been a lot of mixed opinions about Clive Barkers most recent adaptation Midnight Meat Train. With the next film Dread currently filming we have to know what is the next book up for adaptation? Well it just so happens to be The Madonna. A story that comes from the Books of Blood.

Today STYD spoke with the producers of the project to get a little insight about what the film will be about, ""It's such an interesting story," offers co-producer Joe Daley. "The Madonna is this creature that lives in this abandoned bath house. The men that enter this cavern are slowly turned into women. You deal with such horrific fears these men share in the presence of the Madonna, in her lair, with these women that live in this place. It's a total taboo."

Jorge Saralegui agrees "the story is the male fear of their own female side. That's fun to do and in this film we've got a gangster who's all guy and starts to turn into a woman. He can't accept his own feminine side coming out. Whereas the other guy ends up going with it."

Clive Barker has approved the first draft of the script already and has compared it to the film Possession with Sam Neil. So that is a pretty big endorsement for the film already. After they finish up work on Dread they will begin working on The Madonna followed by Pig Blood Blues.
