Twilight Soundtrack Debuts at #1

We have been covering the teen vampire romance film Twilight on our site for some time.  The movie based on the popular book series by Stephenie Meyer is debatable in the realm of horror, but nonetheless it is proving to be quite the vampire hit even before it's release.  With a large fan following the movie is expected to be a big draw when it releases in theaters November 21st, but the soundtrack is already proving what type of hit Twilight will be.

Yahoo! Chart Watch reports that in a rare feat, the Twilight soundtrack became only the 6th movie soundtrack EVER to debut at #1 on the Billboard album charts before the movie itself debuted.  The album has sold 165,000 copies since it's release with 48,000 copies digitally sold.  Thats the highest digital first week tally ever for a soundtrack, making it the #1 digital album as well.  The Twilight soundtrack joins 8 Mile, Private Parts, Murder Was the Case, That's the Way of the World, A Hard Day's Night, and Show Boat as the only other soundtracks to debut at #1 before the movie premiered.  The Twilight soundtrack features songs by Paramore, Linkin Park, Collective Soul, Perry Ferrell, and even a song by the films star Robert Pattinson.  If you are interested the soundtrack is available at retailers everywhere.

Interested in the Twilight or not, there is no denying that the film has a huge following and will make quite a bit of money.  Thats an impressive feat for a movie revolving vampires, even if they do look like they were plucked right out of the Disney Channel.  Unless the family flick Bolt can pull off an upset, expect Twilight to be #1 in the box office upon its release November 21st, with a chance for it to keep it's legs going with a weak crop of other films in the weeks after.
