SAW: Game In Jeopardy

As of this writing, the five films of the Saw franchise has grossed over $600 million worldwide at the box office.  Not including fairly healthy DVD sales.  The series was due to make the expected leap to video games in 2009 (just in time for Saw VI) from Brash Entertainment.  For those of you who don't know who Brash Entertainment is, the video game company was created to make video games off licensed material like movies.

Variety reports that the company is shutting down because of financial problems.  Their adaptations of Space Chimps, Alvin and the Chimpmunks and Jumper: Griffin's Story were slammed by critics and were busts.  Considering that the quality of most movie based game is on the low end, even from high name companies, Brash's downfall isn't surprising.

Brash going under leaves the fate of the Saw video game wide open.  Though I'm getting rather sick of the franchise, I'm interested at least to see how a game would play out.  Considering the Brash's track record, maybe it's not that bad of a thing them going under and leaving the game up for grabs.  Personally, I would want to see a devloper like Activision, iD Software, EA or even Capcom scoop up the game.  Each company has experience in the horror genre and could probably do a good job.  Saw: The Video Game was originally due out in October in 2009, but now it awaits it's fate.
