Twilight Reviews Spell Doom!

Well it would seem that despite an opening Box Office that kicked a whole bunch of dollar bills up to the studio, critics and fans are less then impressed. Today my buddy from WAM pointed out to me that the RottenTomatoes ranking for the movie is a piss poor 5.3/10 giving it a Freshness of 43%. What does it all mean? It means the movie pretty much sucks ass as far as critics are concerned.

Now that all said we all know that Critics and Fans are never on the same page. Or at least very rarely. How often have we as a community disagreed with the commercial outlets and papers over reviews of films? In this case however when you start reading the various Twilight Fan Forums you can see a pretty massive backlash at the film. Could it be that the studios fangirls will turn on the film and deflate it very quickly after this weekend? Time will tell.

I have always been a strong believer that books to film very rarely impress the fans. Case and point being the Narnia films. Who did not read those books as a kid? If you grew up in the 80's it really was a staple where I lived. The movies dont even come close to doing justice to the book and it does not surprise me that Twilight may also not deliver. When studios adapt books to film they do it on the premise it has a built in audience and it doesnt always pay off. That said either way you cut it with a $30million opening day Twilight is going to make a MINT and the sequel is already in the works... good or bad.
