I am Legend Prequel Scrapped

I really and truly enjoyed I am Legend. It was a fantastic action film and definitely was alot of fun. Not long after it hit theatres it was announced a prequel was in the works. The plan for the prequel was to have it show the destruction of New York City and the world and frankly... sounded awesome. So much for that.. the idea is scrapped for a lame sequel.

Thats right the plan according to AICN is to abandon the idea of a kick ass action packed prequel and instead move ahead with a sequel based directly after I am Legend. This of course invites the question how do they plan to involve Will Smith? More importantly it begs the question why? What on earth is so interesting after the first film? Dont we all want to see how the world went to hell in a hand bag? Good idea, bad idea? Sequel or Prequel? Sound off in the coments.
