Will Smith Talks About I Am Legend Prequel

The "I Am Legend" Sequel / Prequel talks have been going around for awhile.  The idea has been on again / off again, is it a prequel or a sequel, etc.. etc...  Collider recently caught up with Will Smith and asked him what excited him about revisiting Robert Neville.

"We have a fantastic prequel idea…we’re still trying to work through a couple of bumps in the story. It’s essentially the fall of the last city – the last stand of Manhattan. The movie would be…within the body of the movie D.C. and then Manhattan would fall as the last city. It’s a really cool idea trying to figure it out…there’s a reason why we have to take a small band and we have to get into D.C. So we have to make our way from New York to D.C. and then back to New York. "

But what about the dog?  Robert Neville's sidekick?  When asked if the dog would be included in the prequel, Smith promptly answered, "Yes, the dog will be a puppy."

I really enjoyed the remake of "I am Legend" and I think with some refining that this idea they have cooking cook really work.  Imaging seeing the monster-zombies on a larger scale - Wicked.
