November Opening for Twilight New Moon

Summit is moving quickly on this sequel - and likely on the third part of the series as well as reported here earlier this month, and according to Variety, they have already claimed next Thanksgiving Weekend as the release date for the 2nd Twilight Installment.

The official date is Nov. 20, 2009 - but unlike this year, where the movie was left virtually unchallenged, after the new Harry Potter was pushed back to next summer, the New Moon will have some still competition in 2009. Joining the mix is Sherlock Holmes, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, MGM's "Three Stooge's" unnamed project and Sony's Planet 51 cartoon.

In 2010, Potter is expected to return to a Thanksgiving release, and could spell some trouble for the 3rd installment of the Twilight franchise. Summit has said they will cross that bridge when they come to it
