Vanessa Hudgens in the New Twilight?

Just to make the sequel to Twilight that much more enticing, there is talk about High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens joining the cast of the New Moon. As heard on MTV.com, Ashley Greene reportedly spilled the beans that Hudgens had auditioned for the role of Leah Clearwater, the gilted-lover of Sam Uley, one of the boys from the reservation.

It seems like a stretch for Hudgens to go from always smiling, happy-go-lucky High School Musical to the sometimes mean and agreesive role of Leah Clearwater, but who knows what that girl has up her acting sleeve?

MTV also did a survey to fans about whether they thought Hudgens or Brenda Song (The Suite life of Zack & Cody) was better suited to play Leah Clearwater. Neither was the a resounding leader with 38% of the vote, while the two actresses tied at 31%. Awesome!

I personally don't think this is a bad thing having Hudgens on the cast, I know I'm going to get dragged to see this one, so atleast there should be a cutie a like Hudgens to watch while the gf ogles Edward.
