The Uninvited gets Taken at Box Office
Alright, so the title of this seems is fitting because it's probably as lame as The Uninvited was. According to BoxOfficeMojo, The Uninvited finished up it's debut weekend at No. 3 at the Box Office. The film made an estimated $10.5 million in 2,344 theaters. This remake of A Tale of Two Sisters actually had a higher per theater average than #2 film Paul Blart: Mall Cop but finished $3.5 million behind it. Moviegoers were in the mood for some dark suspense though as the Liam Neeson's dark revenger/thriller Taken finished in first place with $24.6 million. While Taken is not a true horror film, I've heard great things about it and that its actually pretty dark and disturbing. It must be good because it's already averaging an 8.0 with 30,000+ votes on IMDB, so maybe check that out instead of The Uninvited.
The Uninvited, based on Kim Jee-Woon's 2003 Korean horror film "A Tale of Two Sisters" revolves around Anna (Emily Browning), who returns home after spending time in the hospital following the tragic death of her mother. Her recovery suffers a setback when she discovers her father (David Strathairn) has become engaged to her mother's former nurse, Rachel (Elizabeth Banks).
That night, Anna is visited by her mother's ghost, who warns her of Rachel's intentions. Together, Anna and her sister (Arielle Kebbel) try to convince their father that his current fiancee is not who she pretends to be, and what should have been a happy family reunion becomes a lethal battle of wills between stepdaughters and stepmother.
