Friday the 13th Part 2 Greenlit?

So here we are, only 11 days from the release of Platinum Dunes reimagining of the Friday the 13th series. By all likelyhood the movie will be a box office success and make a good chunk of money, but even without the film releasing yet it appears Friday the 13th Part 2 might already be on the fast track. AITH reports that they have heard from a "very reliable source" that the sequel "will happen" and is already being projected for a August 13th, 2010 release date.

It's to early to say if Marcus Nispel will return in the directors chair or if Derek Mears will again don the infamous hockey mask but I am sure once Friday the 13th hits theaters and the dumptrucks fill with money then details will start to pour out over the potential sequel. Then again, if reports from fans are that the movie sucks maybe they will be smart and not go ahead with an unnecessary sequel to the unnecessary remake...although thats just wishful thinking because we know its all about that money and not the fans.
