Director Responds to Bale Going Nuts on Terminator Set

The assistant Director has come out in defense of Christian Bale going absolutely ape shit on the set of Terminator Salvation. The audio which we shared yesterday is absolutely horrible and makes Bale look like a big drama queen. He goes on for over 3minutes balling out a lighting guy and even goes so far as to threaten him. By the audio it sounds like when he did threaten him that people stepped in to restrain him but listen yourself and decide.

It is easily one of the worst audio tapes I have listened to and has definitely changed my view of Bale as an actor. Assistant Director Bruce Franklin who can be heard in the tape trying to reason with Bale told E!;

“If you are working in a very intense scene and someone takes you out of your groove…It was the most emotional scene in the movie,” said Franklin. “And for him to get stopped in the middle of it. He is very intensely involved in his character. He didn’t walk around like that all day long. It was just a moment and it passed.

“This was my second movie with Christian, and it has always been a good experience with him,” added Franklin, who also worked with the actor on 2000’s Shaft. “He is so dedicated to the craft. I think someone is begging to make some noise about this, but I don’t think it’s fair. The art of acting is not paint by numbers, it’s an art form. “

I agree with Bruce on a few of his points and I have alot of respect for somebody who is willing to put their neck out there for Bale. That said their is no excuse in my books, none what so ever for Bale to have reacted the way he did in the audio. You can even here him yelling at McG in the audio. Everyone sounded terrified of Bale and frankly... it is pretty sad.
