Raimi vs Campbell & Evil Dead 4

Word about an Evil Dead remake and Evil Dead 4 have been kicking around the past few years to the point where it's almost become redundant to talk about it.  Well, here's some interesting news that might put Evil Dead 4 on some kind of a track.

MTVMovieBlog got a chance to speak to series helmer Sam Raimi and got his take on Bruce Campbell saying he's not interested in reprising his role:

"He can dream all he wants.  He's trying to get out of getting back into shape.  I'm going to kick his butt in shape.  I'm gonna say 'get back in the chainsaw!'"

Sam Raimi vs Bruce Campbell, that'd be fun.  I got a pitch for a fourth Evil Dead movie: Instead of doing the film about Ash per say, maybe do Evil Dead 4, Wes Craven's New Nightmare style with Raimi trying to get another Dead film made because the Deadites know its their way to be released and Campbell keeps refusing or tries to stop him.  In the end its a battle between director and actor where....should't say more.  Sam, email or call me and we can talk.

But, anywho.  Raimi, who has just completed his return to horror with Drag Me To Hell, says that if there will be another Evil Dead, it'll have to wait:  "...I would really like to do [another Evil Dead film].  I've just got a commitment to make 'Spiderman 4' right now though."

So, while its not really news about a film going into production; at the very least it's cool to see that Raimi is indeed intrested in going back to his roots for at least one more round.  And I would like them to take time on it, good sequels are hard to do and it's rare you find a fourth good film.  I would list Die Hard 4 & Halloween 4 as good franchise fourths though.  Stay tuned for more info.
