Fuller Talks Krueger and New Cast
It was officially announced just a couple days ago that Jackie Earle Haley is going to play the next Freddy Krueger. That really comes as no surprise I think for many of us who had been aware of the rumor for a very long time. Now that the news is out of the bag Brad Fuller, one of the producers, has come forward to comment on the casting.
"There were many times during the negotiation that I came here and just looked at the fans casting ideas and realized that he was ONLY person who could play the role. We can't make all the fans happy, but those of you who are open to a new version of the Nightmare story have to be as excited as we are. Come on people, an Academy Award Nominated actor is playing Krueger. This was no small accomplishment, but everyone involved wanted it to happen. We all know that Jackie is an unbelievable actor, but I want to let you in on something you might not know. Sam, Drew and I had drinks with Jackie and were elated to learn that he is just like us. He is a huge fan of horror, and well aware of the rightful place Freddy Krueger holds in the horror pantheon. Quite simply, he knows what he has to do, and is very up to the task."
He went on to say that they will be starting the process of getting the make-up ready next Monday. That will involve a lot of things such as contacts and getting his head cast. Lastly he mentioned that Kyle Gallner from A Haunting In Connecticut has been cast in Johnny Depps role from the first film. More casting was promised soon so keep it here for more.
