Well, I think that the sky is falling indeed Chicken Little.  Paramount, after years of ignoring fan's requests for spanking new, special feature filled DVDs of the Friday the 13th films is finally moving to answer fan's demands.  With parts 1-3 already on store shelves, it was only a matter of time before the rest of the series would come to light.

DVDActive has a look at the artwork and special features for the Deluxe DVDs for Friday the 13th Part IV, V, & VI.  No clue on if they are the uncut editions, but hope for the best.

I don't think I have to say that the packages look beyond gold. Commentaries and featurette filled, my kind of DVD.  I hope that the featurettes expose some new tidbits about the productions of the films.  After watching the seminal His Name Was Jason, I hope that the featurettes are more than cut and pastes from that documentary.  Joe Lynch and Adam Green doing a commentary for Part 4 should be a worthwhile listen.  I'm looking forward to the release of VI the most, out of the sequels, it's my favorite.

Looks like fans are getting their way, now all we need is VII and VIII to get a re-release.  I think New Line can sit out the re-release for their two films, the DVDs were good enough.

I haven't gotten any of the Deluxe DVDs so far because part of me is saying that Paramount will probably put out a new Deluxe edition box set once all eight of their films have been released.  But if you're anxious to toss out your old Paramount discs in favor of these new ones, Friday the 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter, Part V: A New Beginning, Part VI: Jason Lives will slash into DVD shelves June 16, 2009.
