Now I am a big fan of Rob Zombie in many aspects. I like his music and have been a huge fan of House of 1,000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects. But today while speaking to STYD about the difficulty of getting Tyrannosaurus Rex made he said something that I found particularly hypocritical.
"It seems like, every year, it gets harder and harder to get a movie made. Even if you're following up a hit, the studios - I don't know if it's the economy - but trying to get them to greenlight and loosen up the money is a f**kin' nightmare. If you look at the movies being made, nobody wants to make anything that's different.
They just want sequels, remakes, things based on pre-existing comics. It's f**kin' hard. I got offered nine million horror remakes the last year, many of them have been made but they all crossed my desk. There's no original material being made."
There's no original material being made.. Hmm yea.. Who is directing Halloween 2? The Devils Rejects can be argued to be a sequel as well. It just seems to me that if Rob thought that it was such a bad thing why even make films? He is a talented musician that can always rely on that for income.. So why take the job to remake Halloween and then a sequel to a remake? What are your thoughts on the comment made by Rob? Sound off on the boards..
