IFC Takes A Gamble On AntiChrist

Today it was announced after Lars von Trier's Antichrist played in Cannes IFC decided to take a gamble on the film and picked it up. This is all despite the harsh criticism that has come since the screening. Apparently there is a lot of controversy swirling around about the film. But IFC is confident that this film will at least be very polarizing and you will not just be on the fence.

"Since it premiered at Cannes on Monday, we haven't been able to stop  talking or thinking about 'Antichrist,' " IFC Entertainment president Jonathan Sehring said.

The film stars Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg and was filmed in Germany. Directed by Lars Von Trier he wrote the script along with contributor Anders Thomas Jensen. MFA Plus Filmdistribution will release “Antichrist” in Germany and TrustNordisk will handle international sales.

The film is about a couple who retreat to a cabin in the woods to recover from the death of their child. Also from several comments von Trier has made is that the world was in fact made by Satan, not God.
