Predators Not A Remake But A Sequel

Just a couple days ago we reported on the news that Arnold Schwarzenegger had been offered a spot in the new film. Apparently they want him to reprise his role as Butch from the original Predator film. Thanks to a scooper Moviehole has found out some interesting news regarding the movie.

‘’Rodriguez is as against the idea of a straight-up remake as much as anyone – which is why they’re considering this an official sequel to John McTiernan’s film,” the scooper told the site. "The script is terrific... I hear.

It’s partly the old Predators script Rodriguez did, but mostly new stuff by [Alex] Litvak. And it’s violent – like the original. Everybody here at [name removed] has pointed out how much better it is than [Paul W.S] Anderson’s abomination. Doesn't sound like there's any reason to worry."

So rather than getting a remake like we have been anticipating we may be getting a sequel to the film. Honestly I'm not sure if this is something good or bad. For some reason I would be interested to see what they might do with a remake and play with the core idea some. Then again, remakes usually don't turn out well.
