Old Boy Remake Still Moving Ahead

Right now there is a big legal battle going on between the Japanese publishers of the original Manga and the producers of the Korean film. They are alleging that Show East never had the rights to sell the remake rights away. Which after much movement has settled into the hands of Dreamworks' Steven Spielberg and Will Smith.

What complicates this even further is that Show East has shut down and the CEO is no where to be found. So has Big Egg which was another company that helped produce the original Old Boy. I'm not sure what kind of effect this will have on the American remake but if Spielberg and Smith are moving ahead they must not be too worried about it.

No word on whether or not Spielberg will actually direct or not but I am willing to bet that Will Smith will star. Personally I don't like that casting since. Not that I don't like Will Smith because I actually think he can act I just don't think he is right for this particular role. Be sure to keep it here for more details as we hear them.
