Ridley Scott Directing Alien Prequel

Many months ago I did an article with the exact same title as this one only with a quetion mark at the end. There were rumors that Ridley Scott not Carl Rinsch would direct the project because FOX wanted him at the helm. But there was no solid confirmation. Today from Variety comes word that its confirmed. Ridley Scott will direc the prequel movie and they also give us the gist of the story.

The film is set up to be a prequel to the groundbreaking 1979 film that Scott directed. It will precede that film, in which the crew of a commercial towing ship returning to Earth is awakened and sent to respond to a distress signal from a nearby planetoid. The crew discovers too late that the signal generated by an empty ship was meant to warn them.

This my friends COULD kick a lot of ass! It has the formula of awesome but then again .... it could suck!
