Darabont On Board For The Walking Dead TV Series

Frank Darabont really impressed a couple years ago with the release of The Mist. Of course he has delved into horror by writing a couple scripts for movies like The Blob remake and Nightmare On Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors as well. Today comes some very exciting news that he may be writing and directing a TV series for AMC based on Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead comic book series.

Now I said "may be" because Variety says that the station is "close to finalizing" the deal. Now the details are slim but they are calling this a zombie-drama so don't be looking for too much gore. They will most likely be following the survivors more than the gore shots.

"This is not about zombies popping out of closets," AMC's senior veep of programming Joel Stillerman said. "This is a story about survival, and the dynamics of what happens when a group is forced to survive under these circumstances. The world (in 'Walking Dead') is portrayed in a smart, sophisticated way."
