Night of the Living Dead Remake in CGI and 3-D

I know all the fans of the original film have been screaming to get a remake of the original film. Especially with some CG and they absolutely demanded that it had to have some 3-D elements to it.. No lie.. I saw them. Note my complete sarcasm.

Well whether you asked for it or not.. its coming. According to THR, the re-imagining is being directed by newcomer Zebediah de Soto and produced by Simon West and Simon West Productions president Jib Polhemus. As far as the story goes, De Soto wrote the script with David R. Schwartz says he wants to explore the characters back stories and make it as “an American-style anime.” It is also being called Night of the Living Dead: Origins.

Apparently that comment is regarding a new real time effects system the duo created, known as 'The Beast', which allows filmmakers the ability to direct CG performances the same way they would direct real live actors. I guess this is supposed to allow actors to react to CG elements as if they are tangible? I don't know how you can bring computer generated images into a scene but apparently they have figured out a way.

Well I probably shouldn't be blasting this until I actually see some footage from it but its really hard after reading all this information about the film. It sounds like they are getting a little too ambitious. A first time director working with not only 3D cameras but this new effects system. Sounds like a lot for a rookie filmmaker to take in. Only time will tell and we'll be following this along just in case they pull out some miracle.
