Samurai Princess DVD Date! Sweet!
Recently, we have seen an influx of Japanese splatter films, most recently with The Machine Girl and Tokyo Gore Police. A few months back we posted the trailer for Samurai Princess, the new film from Tokyo Gore Police scribe Kengo Kaji. Special FX are being done by legend Yoshi Nishimura (Tokyo Gore Police, Machine Girl, Suicide Club) and as a result Samurai Princess looks every bit as ridiculous as those films. So now the good news: Samurai Princess will be hitting DVD shelves in the US very soon. It is currently slated for release on November 17th through Well Go USA, so for anyone who likes over the top gore and completely insane ideas like only Japan can bring mark it down on your calender. And since I am such a sucker for films like this, good or bad, and since the trailer is completely insane I am going to do the right thing and post the trailer again below. Seriously, how can a film with breast grenades, scissor legs, and rocket feet be anything but entertaining?
Samurai Princess takes place sometime, somewhere in an alternate universe version of feudal Japan, where people live together with highly developed mechanical dolls. However, excessively developed mechanical dolls start causing harm to the human society, leading to ghastly bloodsheds happening all over the place. Under the circumstances, Kyoraku, a mad scientist, creates a female ninja mechanical doll. Equipped with 11 types of built-in weapons, the ninja doll is infused with the souls of eleven of her fallen sisters and she uses their combined power to take down anyone who stands in the way. The ninja doll will not die even if she is slashed by a sword or shot by a gun she is virtually indestructible on her quest to save humanity.
