Paranormal Activity #4, Opens Wide the 16th
On Sunday evening, we reported that Paranormal Activity became a surprise entry into the top ten films of the weekend by making a whopping $7.1 million and landing at #5. For those who dont know, the Sunday box office results are studio estimates and it turns out Paranormal Activity did so well that even the studio's estimated wrong. Instead of the initial $7.1 million that was estimated, it's exact haul was $7,900,695. This was actually good enough for Paranormal Activity to land at #4, beating out Toy Story 1&2 in 3D by about $140,000. Being on only 160 screens, it's per-theater average was $49,379 and it has increased it's total gross to $9,113,936 which is phenominal considering the film cost $11,000 to make. Not only did the film defy all logic at the box office for such a small release, it's also got tons of fan support. Their "vote for Paranormal Activity in your City" promotion has been running strong at their official site ParanormalMovie.com and has hit 1 million votes. With over 1 million votes, the time is here for Paranormal Activity to see it's wide release this weekend. The film will be going wide this friday, Oct 16th. Tickets will be available for preorder and all theaters that will be releasing the film will be listed on their official site after 5pm PST tonight.
So you, the fans, have spoken and Paranormal Activity will be hitting nationwide this weekend. If it opens by you be sure to check it out and get up an official review and let us know it if it truly one of "the scariest films of all time". It is currently getting an 80% approval based on 3 reviews on site, so the early word from horror fans is go see it.
