Ghost Rider 2 Not A Reboot

To be quite honest,
Ghost Rider was one of those movies where I felt it wasn't completely terrible but at the same time, it failed to 'wow' me. I didn't walk away with much of desire to see more of the flaming skull rider. However, the involvement of David Goyer has somewhat peaked my interest.
Speaking with
MTV, Goyer commented the planned sequel is not really a reboot, but instead takes place some years later. "
It's not exactly a reboot...I hate to say it's more realistic, because he's got a flaming skull for a head, but it's a bit more stripped down and darker. It's definitely changing tone. What 'Casino Royale' was to the Bond movies, hopefully this will be to 'Ghost Rider'...this story picks up eight years after the first film...It doesn't contradict anything that happened in the first film, but we're pretending that our audience hasn't seen the first film. It's as if you took the same character where things ended in the first film and then picked it up eight years later, he's just in a much darker, existential place."
Hm, I think I might have to side with Goyer on this one. With the recent string of reboots to various franchies we usually do get some of an origin story. So simply starting with Johnny Blaze already as Ghost Rider and continuing on from there, yeah I think I might be interested in seeing this. While it will be a PG-13, post
Dark Knight I think that the line of PG13 have been seriously pushed closer and possibly slightly over the R rated line. We'll bring more word as things develop.
