Fright Night Remake Gains A Writer

Goon

Last we heard about the Fright Night remake was that it was going to be a in name film only. The plot at the time was going to place the story at a funhouse which almost sounded like a remake of Tobe Hooper's film. But now it looks like they will be going to keep with the traditional story.

Mad Men scribe Marti Nixon has been hired by Dreamworks to write the script this time around. Apparently they will keep the original story and modernize the effects. Nixon is familiar with vampires as well though having written for Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.

The original "Fright," released in 1985, was written and directed by Tom Holland and starred Chris Sarandon, Roddy McDowall and William Ragsdale. Ragsdale played a teenager who discovers his neighbors are vampires.
