Rob Zombie Done With Horror?

Rob Zombie has directed four horror films so far and has gotten a lot of heat for at least three of them. Now it looks like the rocker is about to leave the genre behind.. for a little while at least.

Speaking to the Chicago Tribune Rob told them, "If you go down that road too far, it's hard to break out of it," said Zombie backstage at the Aragon Ballroom before his Sunday show. "I don't want to get stuck with anything. I want the freedom to do what I want to do."

So whats next for the aging rocker? Currently he is on tour for his upcoming album "Hellbilly Deluxe 2". After that no one is quite certain. He was up for The Blob remake but after this announcement it seems that he is going to push ahead with Tyrannosaurus Rex. That film is about a washed-up boxer who gets into the world of underground fighting after he's released from prison.

I tend to think that no matter what Rob Zombie does he will always appeal somewhat to horror fans in his somewhat "grindhouse"-type approach to films that he makes. A great example of that is The Devils Rejects which is arguably not even a horor film. Be sure to keep it here for more on what Zombie finally decides to do next.
