Repo Men Red Band Trailer

A long while back when Darren Lynn Bousman was working on Repo! The Genetic Opera, Universal Pictures published they were working on their own organ repossession film called The Repossession Mambo.  Concepts almost identical, differences in story.

Well, now we get a chance to look at the non-musical organ repossession film; which has been retitled Repo Men.  Understandable as Mambo might imply that it would be a musical to an audience who looked at the title and had no idea what it was about.  Myspace has a look at the Red-Band, which I should note is Not Safe For Work and you need a Myspace account to access it.  Storyline follows:

In the future, artificial organs can be bought by those who need it.  Fall behind on the payments however, the company sends the repo men to collect their product.  Repo Man Remy's (Jude Law) heart is damaged on his latest assigment, so the company places one of their new artificial hearts into his body.  Unable to keep up payments, his former partner Jake (Forest Whitaker) is sent to collect.

Looking at the trailer, the film has an obvious asethic and tonal difference beyond the lack of musical numbers.  Bousman's film was incredbily stylish though this film is trying to be more grounded in reality.  Action looks decent and has some top actors like Law, Whitaker and Liev Schreiber but overall I'm unsure about the film as a whole.  But we'll find out in a few months.  Repo Men is due out on April 2, 2010.
