Dustin AKA Googopqp Top 15 of 2009

Meh

Well, well, well...Here we are, at the end of 2009. It was a surprisingly good year for horror with some great releases and some great theatrical releases, like Paranormal Activity. But, now that the year is ending, I'm here to present my favorite horror films of 2009. This was not an easy task to do though because there were so many great movies to choose from, but heres my list of the top 15 because 10 was too hard to choose, hope you enjoy!

15. CockHammer: Now, I know almost nobody knows about this little film but I feel it is an interesting and shock filled film from HackMovies. Its got enough gore, sex, and dialogue to fullfill most gore hounds and comedy hounds, as long as your a fan of extremely vulgar dialogue. This was a good one that I did thoroughly enjoy enough to put onto my top 15 list and if you can check it out, it may just be your cup of tea!

14. End of the Line: This movie was just plain weird, but interesting and good non the less. Its all about some weird cult killing people because the apocalypse is coming and they want to send them to heaven, but the ending and the gore of this movie is what puts it onto my list. Its a good independent film that I would recommend checking out!

End of the Line End of the Line
In this unsettling and creepy thriller, Karen (Ilona Elkin), a young nurse who works in a psychiatric ward, boards the last subway train of the night only to have it stop suddenly in the middle of the tunnel. As those around her...

13. The Collector: From some of the writers of the Saw movies comes The Collector, yes, The Collector. A movie about a killer taking a family hostage in a house and the only person who can save them is the person robbing the family that night. But the house is full of traps and all sorts of deadly situations and thats where the gore begins. Don't miss this one, its worth it!!!!

The Collector The Collector
THE COLLECTOR follows the story of handyman and ex-con Arkin, who aims to repay a debt to his ex-wife by robbing his new employer’s country home.  Unfortunately for Arkin, a far worse enemy has already laid claim to the...

12. Laid To Rest: I Fucking Loved The Gore! This movie was just full on slasher gore all the way through and it was amazingly fun. The story was okay and the acting was meh...but the gore made this movie so great in my eyes that it had to be put onto my list. Most definitely go out and see Laid To Rest if you love yourself some gory gory kills! Plus it had one of the greatest half-decapitations since Hatchet!

Laid to Rest (2008) Laid to Rest (2008)

11. Feast 3: Now, I'm a huge fan of Feast, the first one, but the second film was dissapointing. But, needless to say, I still had hope for the third movie. Feast 3 is violent, gory, vulgar, and awesome fun! It made up for the shit fest which is Feast 2 and made an interesting and gory final with a great Rambo reference. But the ending was very very stupid and almost ruined the whole movie, which is why this isn't higher on the list!

Feast 3: The Happy Finish Feast 3: The Happy Finish
Picking up moments after the end of Feast II: Sloppy Seconds, the survivors are saved by the mysterious prophet, Short Bus Gus, who seemingly has the ability to control the beasts. He leads them into the sewers as they travel to...

10. Drag Me To Hell: Sam Raimi is back! And he is back with a motherfuckin vengeance with....Drag Me To Hell. True, this is a PG-13 horror film but its not the least bit dull. Its still gory and pushes the PG-13 standards with flying eyes, goo, and blood all over. Its a very fun and very kewl little film with just alittle too much CGI, but I loved it and the ending was amazing and made the movie just that much better!

Drag Me To Hell Drag Me To Hell
Christine Brown (Alison Lohman) is an ambitious L.A. loan officer with a charming boyfriend, professor Clay Dalton (Justin Long). Life is good until the mysterious Mrs. Ganush (Lorna Raver) arrives at the bank to beg for an extens...

9. Dead Snow: What can I say? Dead Snow kicked some major ass! Seriously! This movie is gory as hell at times and its just full on insanity and fun! Plus one of the characters has a Brain Dead T-Shirt on, Brain Dead fucking owns! And then that same character gets his face ripped inhalf like in Brain Dead so that was awesome to see! But besides the gore this movie offers some fun characters and Nazi-Zombies, what is not to like? Check it out!

Dead Snow (2009) Dead Snow (2009)

8. Thirst: From the director of Oldboy, Park Chan Wook, comes this original vampire film involving religion and sex! Its a masterful movie and shows where this director has come from. Its very well shot, and has this great tone and style to it that I really enjoyed. Plus the story and acting and blood all added to the film to make is a great and enjoyable film that all shall see!

7. PontyPool: Although this entire film takes place in a little area, and is basically no gore or blood apart from like one or two scenes, it uses words and talking to build suspense and story and its just so damn well done and thoroughly interesting! This was a very very good movie for just dialogue and suspense, you want to hear whats going to happen next and I loved it for every second it did so. Most definitely check out PontyPool, its a great movie.

6. Deadgirl: Dark, deranged, psychotic, necrophelia, insanity....this is all that pops into my mind while watching this film! Its....its fucked up! Thats really all I can say. Its about two friends finding a girl who can basically regenerate and can never die, and one of the friends rapes her over and over and its just fucked up! But its a very good film and very interesting and its written by Troma graduate Trent Haaga and I'm glad to see him moving from Troma to bigger films.

Dead Girl (2009) Dead Girl (2009)
Daringly original, genre-busting and certain to cause debate, Deadgirl is an odyssey into the soul of our alienated youth. But by injecting universal teen moral moorings into something fantastical and terrifying, the film takes ...

5. Paranormal Activity: Now, everybody knows about this movie. The little engine that could of 2009! The $11,000 film that made $105,000,000! But, thats all hype and distortion covering what really is one of the best horror films of 2009. Before all the hype is when I saw this movie, and I loved it! It built real suspense and was actually kind of creepy in its own way and its a very good movie, but then it became all popular and basically ruined the movie for all newcomers. Its sad to see that happen, but get around the hype, forget what you are about to watch, and enjoy this movie for what it is! A great movie!

4. Antichrist: Some people didn't care for this, and some people did. I was one of those who did! Lars Von Trier directed this film and its basically made to shock, and throw religion in your face. But its shot with such beauty and texture and then when the violence happens its at times so sick and disgusting, for some not me :P, that its just amazing and twisted! I really enjoyed this film and really recommend it, but its not for everyone. But it was for me! I just can't get around that amazing opening scene in slow-mo and black and white, its fucking amazing!

AntiChrist AntiChrist
Antichrist follows a couple mourning the loss of their child who retreat to a cabin in the woods (then get it on by the creepy grabby hand tree), when they soon encounter strange, terrifying occurences.

3. District 9: Sure sure sure...this isn't a full on horror film, but its horror enough for me. I fucking loved this movie so much! Its a great alien film and a very intriguing and gory film that all shall see. It really is something you must see to believe! Its a film with obvious hints to apartheid and not only does it entertain but it also puts a political statement to you and its very smart and a very good film. Go see it now! But unfortunately you can experience on the big screen like it should be! :(

2. Trick 'r Treat: This movie was my most anticipated movie for quite some time. But it was never getting released.....Time went by, YEARS went by and nothing. But now its finally among us, and it couldn't be better! Trick 'r Treat made me love Halloween again the way that only....well...Halloween (1978) ever could! Its a very good and very fun Halloween movie and I will watch it every year now for that holiday just to get in the right mood! Watch it now!

And now....for what I think to consider my favorite horror film of the year....<DRUMROLL>

1. ZOMBIELAND: Yes, its really no surprise there. I know its mainstream and this may seem just typical, but fuck it. I loved this movie, I loved this movie to its very end. It has gore, blood, fucking great comedy, and great characters. Woody Harrelson is amazing in this movie and you need to see it! Zombieland is the best horror film I've seen and the best zombie film I've seen this year, all in my opinion of course, and you gotta see it for sure!

Zombieland Zombieland
Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) has made a habit of running from what scares him. Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) doesnt have fears. If he did, hed kick their ever-living ass. In a world overrun by zombies, these two are perfectly evol...
