Fernley Phillips Tapped for American Werewolf in London Remake


According to the L.A. Times, Dimension Films and The Weinstein Co. have been in talks with writer Fernley Phillips who wrote the script for The Number 23, to write a script for a remake of John Landis classic An American Werewolf In London (1981)

The L.A. Times reports that they plan to put a "Modern" take on the original. (To read more on, head on over to the L.A. Times)

Why the need for a remake is beyond me, and what is the deal with putting a "Modern" take on the film, does that mean taking everything out that made the original so great.
It would be nice now and again to hear a studio asking someone to write an original script for an original movie but i guess that's asking too much.

I never have high hopes for a remake as they often take something you love put it through a blender, take out all the goodness and we are left with a pile of nothingness.
