Screenwriter for American werewolf in London

say it isnt so...

The remake of An American Werewolf in London has got a screenwriter Joel Schumacher (The Number 23 )

I feel this movie does not need to be remade .  Yet this comes as no surprise ,seeing as how Hollywood is on fire for films about vampires and werewolves. But couldn't they have remade Wolfen or The Howling instead ?

Being no fan of the film The Number 23 so I am doubtful of this remake and will have to see the trailer looks like.
