The Last Exorcism Rules The Box Office
This past weekend readers started submitting reviews for The Last Exorcism and unfortunately the film got a failing grade. Now admittedly there are only 4 reviews on site at this point so its not a great measuring stick but the film currently has a 47.5% failing grade from fans. If you saw the film this weekend submit your review of it.
The Last Exorcism managed to bring in top spot this weekend making $22.6million. To put that in perspective The Last Exorcism has outdone Piranha 3D's entire Theatrical run Box Office by almost $4million in its opening weekend. Piranha 3D despite great reviews from horror fans has only managed to bring in $18million at the box office. This also makes the point that studios should be listening to that its NOT all about 3D. I may not be a fan of Eli Roth's but I am definitely not a fan of post-production 3D and the constant need of studios to throw EVERYTHING into 3D these days.
Needless to say Eli Roth and Strike Entertainment have struck gold with The Last Exorcism despite horror fans on this site thinking its a waste of your money. The film was made for less then $2million and has made back 10 times its budget in its opening weekend. Once again Lionsgate proves why they are the Dark Lord of the horror genre giving fans exactly what they want if you look at the box office results while turning a very nice profit.
