Boris Karloff Returns in Thriller: The Complete Series on DVD

This was before my time, but these where the years when horror created a truly terrifying atmosphere and emphasised more on story telling instead of cheap scares and being in black and white the lighting adds an extra depth with it's creepy shadows.

This shows us how it's really done!

Anyway Thriller is an anthology show hosted by the late Boris Karloff who also starred in five episodes of the series, which lasted two seasons and it's episodes focused on crime and terror. Karloff would introduce every episode and gave it that one night only feel, and it's always great to have the legend who played Frankenstein's monster introduce proceedings.

The show originally aired on NBC from 1960 to 1962  and it gained a reputation as being one of the most frightening shows to ever broadcast on television. The series featured an all-star lineup of actors who include William Shatner, Richard Chamberlain, Rip Torn, Leslie Nielsen, Elizabeth Montgomery, Warren Oates, Robert Vaughn, and Marlo Thomas were among its guest stars.

Now for the low down, thanks to Image Entertainment who has compiled this glorious collection together, the DVD box set consists of 14 discs with all 67 episodes of the series, the collection includes 24 hours of audio commentary and 31 hours of isolated music and effect tracks from composers Jerry Goldsmith and Morton Stevens.

Also includes rare episode promos, extensive promotional and production still galleries and many more.

Thriller: The Complete Series is available from today August 31, 2010 Amazon.com has it for $97.99.

This is an awesome collection and I will definitely be adding this to my collection, as I said before I missed out on the golden times of horror (As I wasn't even born yet.)

So this is definitely a history lesson :)

If your a fan of the Twilight Zone or Alfred Hitchcock presents, then this will be a welcomed addition.
