Hatchet 2 A Box Office Bomb! Shame on You!

Meh

Hatchet 2 Teaser PosterGuilt trip time courtesy of yours truly. This past weekend was quite a weekend for horror movies and it seems that very few of you got off your asses to go out and support the genre. With Let Me In, Case 39 and Hatchet 2 Unrated all hitting theaters it was a great week to be a horror fan and unfortunately it seems once again it was not a good time to be a horror film.

Hatchet 2 was the widest unrated film release in years and was highly touted by the studio. It was marketed specifically to the die hard genre fan who love old school American horror and despite this it seems very few of us could be bothered to get out to see it.

Admittedly its reach was extremely limited but the fact that Hatchet 2 made $62,000 at the Box Office is sad beyond comparison. That is an average of $900 per theater and I am sure the distributor is now looking at the project asking themselves why they even bothered. If you are a fan of the classic horror flicks like Texas Chainsaw and Halloween or if you simply enjoyed the original Hatchet get out to see Hatchet 2. I will be the first to admit I hated HATCHET but that doesnt take away from the fact if we dont support the genre films that break the mold then studios will never deliver the films you and I want to see!

Case 39 and Let Me In both faired alot better snagging just over $5million a piece which is respectable. Let Me In I went and saw this weekend and for a remake I have to admit its one of my favorites now. Case 39 I passed on so I am just as guilty as the rest of you for not getting out to the theater. MY reason? I just cant afford it!
