Battle of Los Angeles Revealed

It's been a long while since there's been any news on Jonathan Liebesman's alien invasion film Battle: Los Angeles; the official website doesn't offer much and there hasn't even been a glimmer of a trailer.  With a March 11, 2011 release date looming, I'm wondering what's going through Sony's mind; possibly they're waiting to try and pull another District 9...but why am I talking about this?  This is about Battle of Los Angeles...not Battle: Los Angeles.

Oh yeah, it's Asylum Time.  Asylum's website has updated with a page for their upcoming movie Battle of Los Angeles due out at the tail end of February next year.  Plot: In January 1942 US forces engaged an unidentified flying object above Los Angeles. Now almost 70 years later, the alien invaders have returned.

So yes, Asylum's first mockbuster of next year (they have their first family film coming out in January) is also their least imaginatively titled.  But, as the lawsuit over The Day the Earth Stopped never went anywhere; I don't think Sony will do much.  Kel Mitchell (Keenan and Kel), Nia Peeples (The Young and the Restless) and Theresa June Tao are attached to star.  Asylum veteran Mark Atkins (Merlin and the War of the Dragons) is pulling triple duty as cinematographer, writer, and director.  Battle of Los Angeles will be released on February 22, 2011.
