Ghostbusters 3 to Start Production in May 2011?

The guys over at B-D got word from Production Weekly that they have heard Sony's Columbia Pictures is planning to begin production of Ghostbusters 3 in May 2011. Which would hopefully place the film in a nice 2012 monster line-up for the company.

The plot for the film is said to revolve around Dana and Peter's lovechild, Oscar, which will see him as the new Ghost-buster. Also alongside a younger ghost-busting team.

The script was recently re-written by Dan Akroyd and the film is to be directed by Ivan Reitman and stars Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Rick Moranis (Who is coming out of retirement for this movie!) and Sigourney Weaver.

I'm just hoping this doesn't fall through and this will actually happen but who else thinks this could soon be announced it will be in 3D? I haven't got a problem with that, as having 3D ghosts could be pretty bad-ass coming out of the theatre screen.

What do you guys think?
