MGM Moving Ahead Again With Poltergeist & Robocop?Deth_Banger
It seems as if this lion is roaring once again, after filing for bancruptcy and things not looking so good for the studio, perhaps they are getting back on track, as according to Variety MGM recently received a huge $500 million cash infusion which has led them to co-finance Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters alongside Paramount.
Also MGM are said to be moving ahead with other projects towards production, such as the ever elusive reboot of Robocop, which was once to be helmed by Darren Aronofsky, who has since signed on to complete other projects.
Poltergeist may not be a reboot or remake after all, as Variety reports, MGM are looking to go ahead with a Poltergeist 4 but as always, any, if not all of this could change just like that.
Other films MGM are planning to go into production with, is a reboot of Mr. Mom a remake of The Idolmaker and a Hercules project.
I'm just thinking, how about funding some original projects instead of reboots, remakes and sequels, there are a ton of original screenplays out there, it just seems lazy and just a way to make a quick buck, for shame.
What do you guys think?
