Have a Very 'Unhappy Birthday'

A little indie deviant thriller Unhappy Birthday, just popped up on the ol' Facebook and I thought you guys may want to take a gander. Unhappy Birthday comes from the UK and follows a couple who are invited to a remote island for a special birthday party, only thing is, something sinister is afoot and they find themselves trapped.

The film will have its world premiere at the 25th BFI London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival, Friday 1st April - 8.30pm.

Unhappy Birthday is written & directed by Mark Harriott & Mike Matthews, the film stars, David Paisley, Christina De Vallee, Jill Riddiford, Jonathan Keane and David McGillivray.

Synopsis: "A special birthday party becomes a living nightmare for city-dwelling couple Sadie and Rick and their friend Jonny. They are invited to visit the remote tidal island of Amen by Corinne – an enigmatic local who professes to hold answers to long-buried family secrets.

The island is populated by a historically close-knit community who discourage strangers from visiting. So why have these three outsiders been allowed on? The mysterious family connection with the island brings horrific consequences as they find themselves trapped by the tide and at the mercy of the islanders.

They say that blood is thicker than water, but when two worlds with opposing values clash, these visitors will wish they’d never been born."

Peccadillo Pictures have picked up Unhappy Birthday for UK distribution and is expected to be released sometime in October 2011.
