Day of the Dead Contagium: Down but not Out!

There is plenty of hatred for this movie, just on the basis of people feeling this movie is destroying the great masterpiece original done by George Romero. But despite all of this the movie has creeped onto the Top 10 zombie movies on our website. Whether it is because of people looking for trouble, or because folks want to see it, we just cant say. To recap this is a new film using the original ones name, basically to capitalize on the original. It also had George Romero listed as a writing credit for some time on IMDB. On top of that it had a great promo team, two guys who did wonders, who have since left. Top if all off with the fan site being shut down and the fans turned away.
Nothing has been said about this movie in quite some time. The last rumor circulating around was that universal wanted to buy up the rights to the film and do a blockbuster. Whether that will happen with Land of the Dead on the way is hard to say. What I can tell you is that I will be seeing Day of the Dead contagium. Yes I feel its a cash in, and yes I think it may end up stinking, but I am going to make up my own mind. I think you should do the same.
Set in a mental hospital in Pennsylvania, five patients about to be released uncover a secret buried within the compound and unleash a virus (contagium) designed to force Humanity to evolve into powerful creatures capable of astounding feats…and incredible cruelty. In order for this new Human to survive it needs to feed on human flesh: but a bite from these creatures creates a new state of existence, the Creature’s subordinate, the Living Dead. It’s up to our terrified heroes to choose to accept this fate or to fight it, even if it means their own destruction.

Has this movie had more controversy then you can shake a stick at? Yes. Is it a cash in? Yes. Is it the first movie to do this? NO. Could it be good? We will have to wait and see. So far the movie is crazy popular on our site beating out hundreds of films, so let us all wait and see! Myself I refuse to allow others to make up my mind. All I can tell you for sure is that I will see this if I can. But first and fore most I will see Land of the Dead, George Romero's MASTERPIECE that is coming in October of 2005.
