Gravediggers Amelie Exclusive Interview
First of all I would like to thank you for taking some time out of your busy schedule to do this interview. So lets jump right into it, Can you tell us about the Character you play in Stories of a Gravedigger?
It's really my pleasure to answer your questions. About my character in the movie, Sarah, she is the opposite of the "dumb blonde" stereotype we often see in horror movies. She has a good head on her shoulders and she remains calms even with the terrible events that happen during the movie. Even if "La Diable" doesn't really emphasize on this, I think that Sarah suffers from being secretly in love with Ed for months but Ed is going out with her "friend" Kathy.
How did you get involved with the project?
Dave Therrien, one of the producer and the special effects director of the movie, is a good friend of mine and he talked to me about the auditions for his new movie. He knew that it would be something that would really interest me but he didn't know if I had any acting talent. So I went to the audition and it went well. I guess ! I say "I guess" because I saw a part of my audition in the "Making of" of the DVD and I thought I was bad ! lol
Tell our readers what the movie is about and your character in it.
- Stories of a Gravedigger is the story of a cartoon monster, the Gravedigger, who tells 3 horror stories to 2 little kids on Halloween night. It's in the same spirit as the television series "Tales from the Crypt". The story that I'm in is called "La Diable" and it's about six friends going camping and who decide to cross a river which was the middle point of a war 400 years ago. A series of murders happen and the legend of the river "La Diable" seems to live again.
Stories of a Gravedigger has climbed over 100 positions this week on our
Horror TOP 100 after we posted some information and photos of you on the
site, any comments? :)
uhhhhhh. well. it IS a really great movie ! lol No but seriously, I didn't know about that but it is rather flattering.
Are you a fan of horror films?
Yes I'm a huge fan. I started watching a lot of horror movies when I was about 6. I don't really understand how come my parents didn't say anything about it! 6 years-old is a little young to watch such movies as "Friday the 13th", "A Nightmare on Elm Street" or "Halloween" lol But I turned out not being a psycho after all. Speaking of Psycho, I loved the 4 "Psycho" movies with Anthony Perkins (there were 3 movies and one TV movie), I loved Poltergeist, The Exorcist, Dawn of the Dead and all movies related to real serial killers. And I must say that I also have a huge crush on Jason Voorhees. :P

Do you plan on doing anymore horror films in the future?
If I have the opportunity, of course I would love it. I think I will probably get the chance the work with the team of Diggerfilms again. And if I get other offers from other producers, that would be great.
After looking over your site I noticed that you are somewhat of a jack of all trades. So what do you like to do most act, sing, or model?
I started modeling because it seemed to be the easiest way in the acting business. That's really what I've wanted to do for all my life. I like modeling, but this is not what I would like to do forever. not like if I COULD do it forever anyways ! Last year, I discovered singing too and I'm mostly working in that direction right now. I work in studio on some songs, I have a band and all. I just can't decide what I like best. I hear that it's important to concentrate all your efforts on only one thing in order to be successful but I just can't do it. I love singing and acting too much. I'll just see what life has planned for me.
Rumour has it your touring Taiwan, tell us about that.
I'm working on a show with a band and we are suppose to leave for 3 months somewhere in Asia in August. It is suppose to be in Bangkok, Thailand, but it's not sure yet. It might be in Japan, Korea or Thailand.I love the Oriental culture so I'm looking forward to that trip! It's also going to be a great stage experience for me because we are going to play almost every night.
What made you decide to work in all three of those facets of the entertainment business?
Each contract you make often brings other opportunities. So the most things you do, the more people you know and the better opportunities you can get. Also, working in all those fields allows me to only do that as a living. I don't have to have any other "normal" job working from 9 to 5. That's something that I've experienced a couple of years ago and I really hated it.
I also heard you fell in love with American cinema at a young age. What are some of your favourite films?
A trilogy that I absolutely loved and that I must have watched 3587 times is "Back to the Future". Those are such great movies, mostly the first one. I can watch those 3 movies anytime and never get bored. This is rather phenomenal, I don't think it ever happened to me with any other movies. Other movies that I loved were "The Shawshank Redemption", "The Shining", "The Green Mile", "Interview with the Vampire", "Seven", "Gladiator", and probably many more that I don't think about. I also love Spiderman 1 & 2 and I can't wait to see the new Superman.
If you could star in any film past or present. What film would it be?
I would have loved to be Mary Jane in Spiderman played by Kirsten Dunst. Being the girlfriend of a Superhero must be pretty cool. And it was a really successful movie too. It's funny because I remember when I was young, I wanted so bad to be Claudia in "Interview with the Vampire" which is also played by Kirsten Dunst. I thought her role was great (a woman vampire trapped in a little girl's body) but she also got to kiss Brad Pitt! What more could you possibly want ?!?!
If you could work with anyone in the biz who would it be and most importantly why?
I would like to work with Steven Spielberg because everything he makes is great and he seems like a great person too. I would also like to work with Robin Williams because he is one of my favourite actor. He is the only actor who can make me cry either because I'm sad or because I'm laughing too hard. I'd like to work with Tom Cruise too... I don't really know why?!?! :P
Have you ever turned down a role in a movie? If so why?
The only time it happened is only because I couldn't be there for the shooting because I was out of town.
Your website makes clear you are more then just a pretty face, but that you have a high intellect as well. Do you find its hard getting taken seriously before people get to know you?
Yes I must say. It's too bad that people still think that if a girl looks good, she is necessarily "not too bright". I always feel like I have to prove something to people in order to have some credibility. Most people think that because I'm a model and I have a web site with sexy pictures and all it means that I don't have an education. They all seem astonished when they learn that I have a degree and that I was successful in school. And also that I made my web site myself ! We still have a lot of work to do to change those prejudices.
I read that you had an interest in becoming a director. Are you going to pursue that dream soon? What type of film would you direct?
In University, I made a degree in Communications with a speciality in Cinema. I wanted to be a director but I discovered that I preferred to be in front of the camera. Maybe one day I'll work on some project of my own. I often have images on my mind and ideas mostly for video clips. I like to play with the symbolism of things so in videos, I
think you have more freedom of doing weird and hard to understand stuff without people being mad because they don't understand anything of what you want to express. I would like to shock people with taboo symbolism
like religion, making them think I want to express something but in fact, I would express the total opposite. I would like to make people think about serious subjects, make them analyse and come up with their own analyse. Anyways. it looks a little weird as I explain it right now, but in my head, it actually makes sense ! lol
Do you have any projects coming up in the future for us to look forward too? Any details?
Yes, I'm gonna play in the movie of Mapi Falkon who is a French model and director and she wrote a great script about 2 psycho girls but I can't say more. It's a really good script a little bit like David Lynch's style. But the shooting is suppose to be only in December. Besides that, I make shows with my band but I doubt you want to come see
me in Asia :P
Have you ever visited Horror-Movies.ca before?
No it was the first time and I think it's a great site. I was surprised to see how much people like Indy horror films.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Live in the moment.
