The Spierig Brothers talk Daybreakers
The Spierig Brothers are gearing up for their follow up movie to Undead titled "Daybreakers". This film takes place 10 to 15 years in the future and will tell the tale of two brothers that are vampires with two totally different goals. One brother loves being a vampire while the other thinks that as a vampire you lose your humanity, and he wants to become a human being again.
Sci Fi wire has been talking with the Spierig brothers about their new film and they have stated that they want to get a few big name actors in the film. Once again they want to shoot the film for Lions Gate in Austrailia in 2006. They just finished polishing off their second draft which they will soon be handing over to Lions Gate.
Peter said: "There are fewer human beings, and the blood supply is thinning out. The only way to survive is to become human again, and then become the hunted."
Michael went on to tell Sci Fi wire that they won't follow the regular rules of vampires. "There's no hiding of the vampires," Michael said. "They're basically open, and they have become ... very common in the everyday world. The humans are basically hiding, and [the vampires] are thinking about 'What are we going to do when our blood supply is gone [and] there are not many humans left?' That is the dilemma."
Daybreakers is being scheduled for a 2007 release. On a side note I just recieved word that Undead will only open in 2 theatres on July 1st, New York and Los Angeles. So if you live in those areas make sure you run out and support the film.
