Special Showing of EFFECTS in Pittsburgh
The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh will be hosting a showing of the long lost Pittsburgh project EFFECTS on Friday Oct. 14th at 8pm. The director and members of the cast will be on hand.
Filmed in 1980 and directed by Dusty Nelson the film features special effects work by Tom Savini and stars Joe Pilato. Savini also acts in the film.
In Effects,a crew of filmmakers gather at the country home of a wealthy and a moral young director to make a low budget horror film. What the crew doesn’t know is that the director has the premises covered by hidden cameras and is actually making a film of the making of the film. The crew becomes unsuspecting cast members and ultimately becoming victims in the director’s diabolical plot.
The film had a small release back when it was first finished and quickly disappeared. Synapse Films is releasing the film on DVD soon, loaded with special features, one of which is a 60 minute documentary titled After-Effects done by Michael Felsher. The documentary will be screened during the evening at the Warhol as well.
