New Line Heading to the Land of the Living

Nicci French is probably sitting pretty right now. It appears that French wrote a book titled "Land of the Living" which concerns a promiscuous woman who's captured and tortured by a serial killer. After surviving the ordeal, she has to figure out what happened because cops and even her friends think she fabricated the story.

So with the success of several violent horror films a bidding war broke out over the screen rights to the film. New Line came out on top paying a reported seven figures both for the rights to the book and James Ellroy's script fees. Variety is reporting that Alexandra Milchan will produce and Joel Gotler exec produce.

Now it sounds like this movie could become a thriller very fast. I think it all depends on what director gets attached to the project. I'll keep you updated about this project as the information is released.
