Creepshow and More Asian Remakes On the WayGoon
Today Variety revealed that Taka Ichise has signed a three year, first look deal. For those of you who unaware of who Ichise is he is the man behind more than 50 genre films worldwide including Ju-On, Ju-On 2 and both of the American remakes.
Now in the trade they went on to mention some of the projects that Ichise has coming up. He's developing The Entity at Fox Searchlight, with Hideo Nakata ("Ringu," "The Ring 2") attached to direct. Also in development are an untitled horror project at Paramount, with director Takashi Shimizu ("Ju-On," "The Grudge") attached, for Ghost House Pictures and Vertigo Entertainment; a remake of Creepshow for Warner Bros.; and remakes of his Japanese horror pics Infection and Premonition, to be written by Channing Gibson and Keith Gordon, respectively, for New Line, also with Vertigo producing.
The Creepshow remake is the film that caught my eye. How can they even think about remaking a classic like that? I will wait and see who they have directing but for now I'm really concerned about what is going to happen with that. Hopefully they will come up with some original stories. Why remake a movie when there are tons of EC comics that are ripe to be turned into a anthology?
