30 Days of Night Gets a Lead

Goon

I'm really disappointed with this casting annoncement. It seems that rather than go with a tough and rugged actor they decided to go with the squeeky clean WB looking Josh Hartnett to topline 30 Days of Night. Now the director they chose was perfect. He is coming hot off his last film Hard Candy to another great project, David Slade.

But Josh Hartnett? This is the same guy who starred in 40 Days and 40 Nights! Well I guess I can hope for the best. As long as he does what he is supposed to do and act rugged I guess than it could work out.

30 Days of Night is actually based off of a graphic novel by Steve Niles and is being adapted into a screenplay by Stuart Beattie and Brian Nelson. The story is set in Barrow, Alaska, the northernmost town in the U.S., where the sun does not appear for more than 30 days during the dead of winter. An evil force emerges from the darkness, striking terror in the town. The local sheriffs -- a husband (Hartnett)-and-wife team -- are forced to choose between saving themselves and helping the town survive until daylight returns.
