Casting News for Hills Have Eyes 2?

It came as no surprise to me that the remake to The Hills Have Eyes directed by Alexandra Aja would get a sequel. With all the cash it raked in and some great DVD sales I knew this one would be headed for another. Soon my prediction proved to be correct when it was announced that Wes Craven and his son were busy scripting the sequel.

Now according to Dread Central casting has already began. The site revealed that Michael Bailey Smith would be making a return appearance. This time though he won't be playing Pluto and will now be playing the leader of the Mutant family. So how true is this bit of news? Only time will tell.

As for who will be directing this follow up, Wes Craven mentioned awhile back that they were interested in getting Deathwatch helmer Michael J. Bassett. I hope this happens because I would love to see Bassett bring some of his brutal tactics to the mainstream. Right now as long as they stay on track expect shooting to begin in September in Morocco.
