John Shirley Gets His DueDan Strohschein
I love it when a good writer gets his books turned into movies. For those of you who don't know, John Shirley was the mastermind that brought us (the screenplay of) "The Crow". He has continued to write awesome stuff since, and according to hellnotes.com, someone in Hollywood has again taken notice. The screen adaptation of Shirley's "Demons" is being worked on by director Jim Sorenzo, who just brought us the american remake of "Pulse", and Javier Grillo, one of the writers for the smash TV hit, Lost.
Also in works for Shirley is a film adaptation of his book "In Darkness Waiting", which is being produced by Gold Circle. Matt Venne is responsible for the script on that one, but I don't have any further information on it, other than it's on its way.
Not being one to stop with merely two upcoming movies, Shirley is scripting a screenplay for his novel "Crawlers", but no word on when that will be picked up. A few of his other novels, such as the yet-to-be-published "The Other End" and "Cellars" are also harboring great interest from Hollywood (meaning the rights have been optioned and purchased from the author).
