George Romero's Next Project: Solitary Isle

Everyone has been speculating on what Romeros next project would be. I mean why wouldn't we? Romero is arguably the best horror director around. Whenever he is involved with a new picture, horror fans stop and take notice.

Today it was announced that Romero will be writing and directing a new film "Solitary Isle". The film is based on a book by famed Japanese novelist Kuji Suzuki. He is known for writing novels that were both adapted to into The Ring and Dark Water.

The story chronicles an expedition to a deserted island that turns deadly as the explorers face an unknown force. The film is being produced by Ashok Amritraj's Hyde Park Entertainment and Kadokawa Pictures. Right now it is likely that 20th Century Fox will distribute.

Its good to see that Romero is finally getting the work and respect he deserves by the big studios. But on a down note it sounds like a sequel to Land of the Dead will not happen. Unless it is only being put on the backburner. Keep it here as we hear more on this project we will be the first to let you know.
